This notice explains how FancyDock (“we”, “the desk”) handles personal information collected through fancydock.com. We are an independent editorial project based in Perth, Western Australia, and we handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. Who is responsible
FancyDock operates this website and decides why and how personal information here is handled. Written enquiries about privacy, including access and correction requests, go to studio@fancydock.com. We answer privacy enquiries within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
2. What we collect
- Details you give us. If you use the interest form, we receive the email address you enter and, if you fill it in, the name you choose to give. The name field is optional; the email field is not, because there is nowhere to send the update otherwise.
- Your consent choice. When you accept or decline the notice at the bottom of the page, that answer is written to your browser’s local storage under the key
userConsent. It stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. - Push subscription data. If you allow notifications, our push provider issues a subscription identifier tied to that browser installation, together with the browser type, operating system, language and approximate country derived from the connecting IP address.
- Server log data. Our hosting provider records the usual request data — IP address, date and time, requested address, referring page, user agent string — for delivery, security and troubleshooting.
We do not run analytics scripts, advertising tags or behavioural profiling on this site. We do not ask for a postal address, a telephone number or payment details anywhere, and there is no field on this site that collects them.
3. Why we handle it and on what basis
- To send you the update you asked for, and only that — on the basis of the consent you give by ticking the box.
- To deliver web push notifications you have separately permitted in your browser — again on the basis of consent, which you can revoke.
- To keep the site available and secure, and to investigate faults or abuse — a function we cannot reasonably perform without server logs.
Marketing email and push messages are sent in accordance with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth): we send them only with your consent, every message identifies FancyDock as the sender and gives our contact address, and every message carries a working unsubscribe link that we action promptly.
4. Who else sees it
- OneSignal (OneSignal, Inc., United States) processes email addresses, tags and push subscription identifiers on our instructions so that updates can be delivered. It acts for us and may not use the data for its own purposes.
- Our hosting and content delivery providers process request data purely to serve the pages.
Because OneSignal operates from the United States, joining the list involves a disclosure of personal information to an overseas recipient for the purposes of APP 8. We take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles that information consistently with the APPs, and by giving consent you accept that the information will be handled outside Australia. We never sell personal information and we do not share it with the game studios named on this site.
5. How long we keep it
- List details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and in any case no longer than 24 months after the last update we send you.
- Push subscription identifiers: until you revoke notification permission in your browser or the provider expires the record.
- Server logs: generally up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated.
- Your consent choice: on your own device until you clear your browser storage.
6. Cookies and local storage
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. It uses one local storage entry to remember your consent choice, and the push provider creates its own storage entries only after you accept. The cookies and local storage page lists each entry, what it does and how long it lasts.
7. Security
Pages are served over HTTPS, access to the list is limited to the two people who run the desk and protected by multi-factor authentication, and we hold no more information than the update actually requires. No system is perfect; if a data breach were ever likely to cause serious harm, we would notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the notifiable data breaches scheme.
8. Your rights
Under APP 12 and APP 13 you may ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. You may also revoke your consent at any time, unsubscribe from any message, or ask us to delete your details entirely. Write to studio@fancydock.com and tell us which you want; we do not charge for access requests.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please raise it with us first so we can put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, which oversees privacy law in Australia.
9. Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at people under 15 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 15. If you believe a young person has given us their details, write to studio@fancydock.com and we will remove the record.
10. Changes to this notice
If we change how information is handled, we will publish the revised notice here and move the date at the top. Material changes affecting people on the list will also be announced in the next update we send. This version takes effect on 18 August 2026.
